How to Use Chrysler Pacifica Remote Start

If your Pacifica has Remote Start, two pushes of the key fob button start it from outside and let the climate system warm or cool the cabin before you get in. The gas Pacifica and the Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid work a little differently. Here is how each one works, what has to be true before it will start, and what the cancel messages mean, from the 2026 Chrysler Pacifica Owner's Manual.

The short answer

Push and release the Remote Start button on the key fob twice within five seconds. The doors lock, the parking lights flash, the horn chirps twice (if programmed), and the Pacifica starts and runs for a 15-minute cycle. Push the button once more to shut it off. To drive, unlock the doors, then push the START/STOP button before the 15 minutes run out.

How to remote start a Chrysler Pacifica

Remote Start (if equipped) uses the key fob to start the van from outside while keeping it secure. The range is approximately 328 ft (100 m); obstructions between the van and the key fob may reduce it.

  1. Push and release the Remote Start button on the key fob twice within five seconds.
  2. The doors lock, the parking lights flash and the horn chirps twice (if programmed). The engine starts and the van stays in Remote Start mode for a 15-minute cycle.
  3. To shut it off, push the Remote Start button a third time, or let it run the full 15 minutes.

The parking lights stay on during Remote Start, and for security the power windows and power sunroof (if equipped) do not work. If an engine fault is present or the fuel level is low, the van starts and then shuts down after 10 seconds.

From the 2026 Chrysler Pacifica Owner's Manual (Remote Start: Description, How To Use Remote Start), read October 28, 2026.

Getting in and driving after a remote start

Push and release the unlock button on the key fob, or unlock the van with Keyless Enter 'n Go Passive Entry at the door handles, and disarm the Vehicle Security system (if equipped). Then, before the 15-minute cycle ends, push and release the START/STOP ignition button.

On vans with Passive Entry, the instrument cluster shows "Remote Start Active — Push Start Button" until you push the START/STOP button. Remote Start can only be used twice in a row: the ignition must be placed in the ON/RUN position before you can start a third cycle.

To avoid unintentional shutdowns, the system disables for two seconds after it receives a valid Remote Start request.

Remote start climate, defrost and heated seats

With automatic or manual temperature control, the climate system adjusts to the outside temperature while Remote Start runs:

  • At 40°F (4.5°C) or below, it defaults to maximum heat with fresh air, and front defrost (if equipped) runs for 15 minutes or less depending on the temperature; the rear defroster also turns on in cold weather. When the front defrost timer expires, the system goes to Mix mode.
  • From 40°F to 78°F (26°C), it uses the last settings the driver selected.
  • At 78°F or above, it defaults to MAX A/C, Bi-Level mode, with Recirculation on.
  • In cold weather the heated steering wheel and driver heated seat turn on, and in warm weather the driver vented seat turns on, if programmed in the Comfort menu in Uconnect Settings (if equipped).
  • If the van has a rear climate system, it stays off to give the front row the best performance.

These features stay on for the rest of the Remote Start cycle or until the ignition is placed in ON/RUN, when the climate controls go back to your previous settings. If you adjust the climate controls during Remote Start, including turning them off, they leave the automatic defaults.

From the 2026 Chrysler Pacifica Owner's Manual (Remote Start Front Defrost Activation; Remote Start Comfort Systems), read October 28, 2026.

Remote start on the Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid

The Plug-in Hybrid has its own Remote Start system (if equipped). You use it the same way: two pushes within five seconds, a 15-minute cycle, a third push to shut it off, and a limit of two cycles before the ignition must be placed in ON/RUN. The range is 328 ft (100 m).

It turns on the climate control system and vented seats (if equipped) above 80°F (26.7°C), and the optional heated seats, heated steering wheel, heated mirrors and rear defroster below 40°F (4.4°C). The manual notes that Remote Start while the van is plugged in may not always start the engine.

Besides the conditions above, the 12 Volt battery must be at an acceptable charge level, and the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Warning Light and Electric Vehicle Service Light must not be illuminated. To exit, push the Remote Start button once, let the cycle finish, or press the ignition button with the key fob inside to go to RUN and press it again to go to OFF.

Plug-in Hybrid owners can also use Scheduled Cabin Conditioning, which warms or cools the cabin for a planned departure time using the high voltage battery and any connected charging equipment; unlike Remote Start, the gas engine does not start.

From the 2026 Chrysler Pacifica Owner's Manual (Remote Start System (Hybrid); Scheduled Cabin Conditioning), read October 28, 2026.
