Chrysler Pacifica Tire Pressure and TPMS Light Guide

The right tire pressure for your Pacifica is on the Tire And Loading Information Placard in the driver's side door opening, and the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) warns you when one of the four road tires falls too low. Tire pressure drops as the temperature falls, so a cold morning can bring the light on. Here is how to read the placard, how to make the light go off, and what each message means, from the 2026 Chrysler Pacifica Owner's Manual.

The short answer

Use the cold tire inflation pressure on the Tire And Loading Information Placard (on the driver's side B-pillar or door), not the number on the tire sidewall, which is the maximum. Check the tires cold with a good gauge and inflate any low tire to the placard pressure. The TPMS light turns off on its own once the system receives the new pressures; the van may need to be driven up to 20 minutes above 15 mph.

Where to find the right tire pressure for your Pacifica

The recommended cold tire inflation pressure is on the Tire And Loading Information Placard. The manual shows it on the driver's side B-pillar or the driver's door opening. The same placard lists how many people the van can carry, the total weight it can carry and the tire size designed for your vehicle.

The maximum inflation pressure molded into the tire sidewall is not the pressure to run; the cold pressure you set must not exceed it. The TPMS bases its warnings on the vehicle's recommended cold placard pressure.

Check tire pressure cold, and why winter drops it

Placard pressures are always cold pressures: the reading after the van has not been driven for at least three hours, or has been driven less than 1 mile after sitting for at least three hours. Tire pressure may rise 2 to 6 psi while you drive. Do not let air out to undo that normal build-up, or the tires will be too low once they cool.

Tire pressure changes about 1 psi for every 12°F of air temperature change. The manual's winter example: if your garage is 68°F and it is 32°F outside, increase the cold tire inflation pressure by 3 psi when you set the tires in the garage.

  • Check the inflation pressure of each tire, including the spare tire (if equipped), at least monthly.
  • Use a good quality pocket-type pressure gauge. Do not judge by eye: tires may look properly inflated even when they are underinflated.
  • At the same time, inspect the tires for signs of wear or visible damage.
  • Check more often when outdoor temperatures swing widely.
  • Always reinstall the valve stem cap to keep moisture and dirt out of the valve stem.

How to turn off the Pacifica tire pressure light

The TPMS warns you when a tire falls below the low-pressure warning limit for any reason, including low temperature and natural pressure loss through the tire. The warning stays on until the tire is at or above the recommended cold placard pressure. To turn it off:

  1. Stop as soon as possible. The TPMS Warning Light comes on, a chime sounds, and the instrument cluster shows an "Inflate to XX" message with each tire's pressure; the low tires are shown in a different color.
  2. Inflate the low tires to the recommended cold placard pressure shown in the "Inflate to XX" message. If the tires are warm from driving, you may need to add up to 4 psi more than the cold placard pressure to turn the light off.
  3. Once the system receives the new pressures, the pressure values return to their original color and the light turns off. The van may need to be driven for up to 20 minutes above 15 mph for the TPMS to receive them.

The manual's example of why the light can stay on: with a 33 psi recommended cold pressure, a tire measured at 28 psi at 68°F drops to about 24 psi at 20°F, low enough to turn the light on. Driving may warm it back to about 28 psi, but the light stays on until the tires are inflated to the recommended cold placard pressure.

The Pacifica spare, tire service kit and winter wheels

Depending on equipment, a Pacifica may have a compact, full-size or inflatable spare, or a Tire Service Kit. If yours has a compact spare, note that it does not have a TPMS sensor, so the TPMS does not monitor its pressure, and it is for temporary emergency use only.

If you install the compact spare in place of a low road tire, the TPMS Warning Light stays on at the next ignition cycle. After up to 20 minutes of driving above 15 mph, the light flashes for 75 seconds and then stays on, and the cluster shows "SERVICE TPM SYSTEM" and then dashes. Once the original road tire is repaired or replaced and reinstalled, the TPMS updates automatically and the light turns off, as long as no road tire is below the low-pressure warning limit.

If equipped with TPMS deactivation, the system can be turned off when all four road tires are replaced with wheel and tire assemblies that have no TPMS sensors, such as winter wheels: install them and drive for 20 minutes above 15 mph. From the next ignition cycle the system no longer chimes or shows the service message, but dashes remain. Reinstalling four wheels with sensors and driving up to 20 minutes above 15 mph reactivates it.

Keep the TPMS and your tires working

Original-size wheels and tires

TPMS pressures and warnings were set for the tire size on your van. Replacement equipment of a different size, type or style can cause undesirable operation or sensor damage, and the sensors are not designed for aftermarket wheels.

Careful with tire sealant

Aftermarket tire sealants may make a TPMS sensor inoperable. After using one, the manual recommends having an authorized dealer check the sensor.

Not a gauge

The TPMS does not replace normal tire care or warn of a tire failure, and it should not be used as a gauge while adjusting pressure. Keeping the correct pressure with an accurate gauge is the driver's job, even before the light comes on.

Why it matters

Driving on a significantly underinflated tire makes it overheat and can lead to tire failure. Underinflation also reduces fuel efficiency and tread life and may affect handling and stopping.

Snow tires

If you need snow tires, choose tires equivalent in size and type to the original equipment and use them only in sets of four. Snow tires should not be driven at sustained speeds over 75 mph.

Rotation

Front and rear tires wear at different rates. The manual suggests the rearward cross rotation pattern; see the maintenance schedule for intervals.

Chrysler Pacifica tire pressure FAQ

What should my Chrysler Pacifica tire pressure be?

Use the cold tire inflation pressure on the Tire And Loading Information Placard on the driver's side B-pillar or door opening. The right number depends on your van and tires, so check your own placard rather than a general number.

How do I reset the tire pressure light on a Pacifica?

Inflate the low tires to the recommended cold placard pressure. The light goes off on its own once the system receives the new pressures, which may take up to 20 minutes of driving above 15 mph.

Why is my Pacifica tire pressure light on when it gets cold?

Tire pressure drops about 1 psi for every 12°F of temperature drop, so a cold night can take a tire below the warning limit. Inflate to the recommended cold placard pressure.

What does SERVICE TPM SYSTEM mean on a Pacifica?

The TPMS light flashes for 75 seconds and stays on, and that message appears, when the system detects a fault. Snow or ice around the wheels, tire chains, radio interference, aftermarket window tint or wheels without sensors are among the causes listed in the manual.

Does the Pacifica compact spare have a TPMS sensor?

No. The manual says the compact spare tire does not have a TPMS sensor, so the system does not monitor it. Check its pressure with a gauge.

Do I need to let air out after driving?

No. Pressure may rise 2 to 6 psi as the tires warm up. Reducing it leaves the tires too low once they cool.
