Chrysler Pacifica Warning Lights Guide
The 2026 Chrysler Pacifica Owner's Manual says warning and indicator lights come on in the instrument panel together with a message and/or a chime when applicable. It sorts them into red warning lights, yellow warning lights and several groups of indicator lights. Here is what the main red and yellow lights mean and what the manual says to do, starting with the ones that mean stop.

The short answer
If the oil pressure, engine coolant temperature, oil temperature or transmission temperature light comes on while driving, follow the manual and stop. A red brake light with the parking brake released means part of the brake system may have failed: have it checked immediately. A flashing check engine light means severe catalytic converter damage and power loss will soon occur, so immediate service is required. Many yellow lights, such as ABS, Service AWD or Service Stop/Start, mean a system needs service.
Pacifica warning lights that mean stop
| Light | What it means | What the manual says to do |
|---|---|---|
| Oil Pressure Warning Light (red) | Low engine oil pressure. It does not show how much oil is in the engine. | Stop the vehicle, shut off the engine as soon as possible and contact an authorized dealer. Do not operate the vehicle until the cause is corrected. |
| Engine Coolant Temperature Warning Light (red) | The engine is overheating. | Safely pull over and stop. Turn the A/C off, shift to NEUTRAL and idle. If the temperature does not return to normal, turn the engine off immediately and call for service. |
| Oil Temperature Warning Light (red) | Engine oil temperature is high. | Stop the vehicle and shut off the engine as soon as possible. Wait for the oil temperature to return to normal. |
| Transmission Temperature Warning Light (red) | High transmission fluid temperature, for example from trailer towing. | Stop and run the engine at idle or slightly faster in PARK or NEUTRAL until the light turns off, then continue normally. |
| Brake Warning Light (red), parking brake released | Low brake fluid or a possible brake hydraulic or brake booster problem. | Part of the brake system may have failed and stopping will take longer. Have the vehicle checked immediately. |
From the 2026 Chrysler Pacifica Owner's Manual (Warning Lights And Messages: Red Warning Lights), read October 28, 2026.
The manual warns that driving on with the transmission temperature light on could cause the fluid to boil over, contact hot engine or exhaust parts and cause a fire, and will eventually cause severe transmission damage or failure.
Other red Pacifica warning lights
These red lights point to a fault or an open door rather than an immediate stop, but several still call for prompt service.
Air bag
Indicates an air bag fault. It comes on for four to eight seconds as a bulb check. If it is not on at start-up, stays on or turns on while driving, have the system inspected at an authorized dealer as soon as possible.
Battery charge
The battery is not charging properly. If it stays on with the engine running, there may be a charging system malfunction; contact an authorized dealer as soon as possible.
Electric power steering
A fault in the Electric Power Steering system. Continued operation with reduced assist could pose a safety risk; get service as soon as possible.
Electronic throttle control
A problem with the ETC system. If it stays on after you cycle the ignition stopped in PARK, the van is usually drivable but should be serviced as soon as possible. If it keeps flashing while running, immediate service is required and the van may need towing.
Hybrid system service
On the Plug-in Hybrid, service to the hybrid electric system is needed, with a "Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System" message. If it stays on or keeps coming back, contact an authorized dealer as soon as possible.
Limp home mode
Acceleration is limited because engine or electric motor performance is reduced. Service the vehicle immediately if it stays on.
Door, hood or liftgate open
A door, the hood or the liftgate is not fully closed. A single chime sounds if the van is moving.
Seat belt reminder
The driver or front passenger seat belt is unbuckled, with a chime.

Yellow Pacifica warning lights
| Light | What it means |
|---|---|
| Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) | If it stays on or comes on while driving, the anti-lock part of the brakes is not working and service is required as soon as possible. The conventional brakes keep working if the red brake light is not also on. |
| Electric Park Brake | The Electric Park Brake is not working properly and service is required. |
| Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Active | Comes on during an ESC event. If it stays on continuously with the engine running, the system has detected a malfunction. |
| ESC OFF | ESC has been turned off. It turns back on at the next ignition cycle. |
| Low Fuel | About 1.85 gallons of fuel are left, with a single chime. |
| Low Washer Fluid | Windshield washer fluid is low. |
| Service AWD | The All Wheel Drive system is not working properly and service is required. |
| Service Stop/Start System | The Stop/Start system is not working properly and service is required. |
| Fuel Level Sensor Failure | The fuel level sensor has failed; have an authorized dealer inspect it. |
| ACC, FCW/PEB or LaneSense service lights | A fault in Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning or Pedestrian Emergency Braking, or LaneSense; contact an authorized dealer. |

Pacifica check engine light: steady or flashing
The Engine Check/Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is part of the OBD II system that monitors the engine and automatic transmission controls. It lights with the ignition in ON/RUN before engine start; if it does not, have that checked promptly.
Conditions such as a loose or missing gas cap or poor quality fuel can turn it on after start-up. If it stays on through several typical driving styles, the van should be serviced; in most situations it will drive normally and will not need towing.
A flashing MIL is different. The manual says it can warn of conditions that could lead to immediate loss of power or severe catalytic converter damage, and that immediate service is required. A malfunctioning catalytic converter can run hotter than normal, so do not drive slowly or park over dry plants, wood, cardboard or other flammable material.

Tire pressure light: steady or flashing
A steady Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) light with a message means one or more tires are below the recommended pressure or losing pressure slowly; the display shows which tire. Stop and check your tires as soon as possible, and inflate them to the pressure on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label.
If the light flashes for about a minute and then stays on, the TPMS itself has a malfunction and may not be able to warn of low pressure as intended. Replacement or alternate tires or wheels can cause this.

Chrysler Pacifica warning lights FAQ
Which Pacifica warning lights mean I should stop driving?
The manual says to stop for the red oil pressure, engine coolant temperature, oil temperature and transmission temperature lights, and to have the van checked immediately if the red brake light stays on with the parking brake released.
Why is my Pacifica check engine light flashing?
A flashing Malfunction Indicator Light warns of conditions that could lead to immediate loss of power or severe catalytic converter damage. The manual says immediate service is required.
Does the oil pressure light mean my Pacifica is low on oil?
Not necessarily. It means low oil pressure; the manual says it does not indicate how much oil is in the engine, so the level must be checked under the hood. Stop and contact an authorized dealer.
What does the yellow AWD light mean on a Pacifica?
The Service AWD light means the All Wheel Drive system is not working properly and service is required.
Why does my Pacifica tire pressure light flash and then stay on?
That sequence means the TPMS has a malfunction, so it may not detect low pressure as intended. Replacement tires or wheels are one possible cause.
Why do many lights come on when I start the Pacifica?
Several lights, such as the air bag, brake, ABS and check engine lights, come on briefly when the ignition is turned on. The manual calls this a bulb check for the air bag light and says the brake light should stay on for about two seconds and then turn off unless the parking brake is applied or a fault is detected.
