How Much Is a 2021 Jeep Renegade?
The 2021 Renegade was Jeep's smallest and least expensive SUV, starting at $22,850 and running through nine trims. Jeep dropped the Renegade from the U.S. and Canada after the 2023 model year, so a 2021 is now a three-to-five-year-old used car whose price depends on trim, engine and miles. Here is what each version was and what moves the price today.

Quick answer
The 2021 Jeep Renegade carried an original base MSRP of $22,850 for the front-wheel-drive Sport and climbed through Latitude, the 80th Anniversary, Upland, Freedom, Islander and Jeepster editions to the Limited and Trailhawk at the top, each a little over $30,000 before options. Two engines were offered: the 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder (180 hp, 175 lb-ft, nine-speed automatic) on lower trims and the 1.3-liter turbo (177 hp, 210 lb-ft) standard on Limited and Trailhawk and optional on Latitude. The Trailhawk was the only Trail Rated version, with Active Drive Low, a 20:1 crawl ratio and 8.7 inches of ground clearance. Used prices today run roughly from the low teens for a high-mileage Sport to the high teens for a clean Trailhawk or Limited; we do not list prices on this page because they change weekly, so see each listing for its current price.

Engines and fuel economy
2.4L Tigershark
180 hp and 175 lb-ft with a nine-speed automatic. EPA 22 city/30 highway/25 combined with FWD, 21/29/24 with 4x4. The simpler engine, and the one most used Renegades have.
1.3L turbo
177 hp and 210 lb-ft, also with the nine-speed. EPA 23/29/26 on the Limited and 22/27/24 on the Trailhawk. Quicker off the line and quieter at speed; it needs premium fuel for full output.
Towing
2,000 lb with either engine and the trailer tow group; 1,000 lb without.
Warranty
3 years/36,000 miles basic and 5 years/60,000 miles powertrain from the original sale date, so most 2021s are now out of basic coverage and some are past powertrain.
What drives a used 2021 Renegade's price
- Trim: a Trailhawk or Limited holds value best; Sport and base Latitude are the budget buys.
- 4x4 versus front-wheel drive: 4x4 is worth more in the Chicago suburbs and is the only way to get the Trailhawk.
- Engine: the 1.3-liter turbo is preferred by buyers who drove both; the 2.4-liter is cheaper to buy and to fuel.
- Mileage and service history, especially nine-speed transmission software updates and the turbo's oil-change record.
- Options: the dual-pane sunroof, the 8.4-inch screen with navigation, Beats audio and the Advanced Technology Group add a few hundred dollars each on the used market.
- Condition of the roof: the My Sky removable panels on some trims should be checked for leaks and seal wear.
Why there is no new Renegade
Jeep confirmed in December 2023 that the Renegade would be discontinued in the United States and Canada after the 2023 model year, citing a focus on segments that are growing; it continues in Europe, Mexico, South America and Asia. The Compass is now Jeep's entry point in the U.S., with a 2.0-liter turbo (200 hp) and standard 4x4, and the 2026 Cherokee returned above it with a hybrid powertrain. If a Renegade's size is what you liked, a used 2021-2023 is the way to get it; if the price was the draw, a new Compass with current incentives is worth pricing against it.
