Is Chrysler Dodge? Who Makes Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram
People search this because the four brands share showrooms, engines and a parent company. They are not the same brand. Here is how Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram relate, who owns them now, and what each one builds today.

Quick answer
No. Chrysler and Dodge are two separate brands with separate lineups. Both are owned by Stellantis N.V., the company formed on January 16, 2021 when Fiat Chrysler Automobiles merged with France's PSA Group. Stellantis owns 14 brands; the four sold at Elgin CDJR are Chrysler (founded 1925), Dodge (founded 1914 and bought by Chrysler Corporation in 1928), Jeep (acquired with AMC in 1987) and Ram (spun off from Dodge trucks as its own brand in 2010). They share platforms, engines like the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, and dealers, which is why a CDJR store sells all four. In 2026 Chrysler sells the Pacifica, Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid and Voyager minivans; Dodge sells the Charger and Durango.
How the brands fit together
Dodge is older than Chrysler. The Dodge brothers started building cars in 1914; Walter Chrysler founded Chrysler in 1925 and bought Dodge in 1928, which is when the two became siblings under Chrysler Corporation. Jeep joined in 1987 when Chrysler bought American Motors. Ram was Dodge's truck line until 2010, when it became a brand of its own so Dodge could focus on cars and SUVs. The company passed through Daimler (1998 to 2007), private ownership, and Fiat (as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles from 2014) before the 2021 merger that created Stellantis. Since June 2025 Stellantis has been led by CEO Antonio Filosa, and one brand chief, Matt McAlear, runs both Chrysler and Dodge.
