Jeep Compass EPA fuel economy by model year

From U.S. EPA / DOE fueleconomy.gov ratings for the 2026 and 2025 Jeep Compass 4WD (vehicle records 49502 and 48095), read November 3, 2026. fueleconomy.gov listed only 4WD versions of the 2025 and 2026 Compass, and no 2027 Compass, when we checked. Both records show engine stop-start and a tailpipe CO2 estimate of 335 grams per mile (2026) and 330 grams per mile (2025).

2026 Compass MPG by trim

Jeep lists the same city and highway estimate for every 2026 Compass trim; all of them use the 2.0L turbo engine and 4x4.

Engine, transmission and drive

Every 2026 Compass uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four rated at 200 horsepower and 221 lb.-ft. of torque, according to Jeep's 2026 model-year announcement. EPA lists it with an eight-speed automatic transmission and direct injection, running on regular gasoline.

There is no front-wheel-drive Compass in the current U.S. lineup: Jeep's 2026 configurator offers only 4x4 versions, and fueleconomy.gov lists the 2025 and 2026 Compass only as 4WD. That is why the ratings above are 4x4 numbers.

What about the 2027 Jeep Compass?

Jeep's website already lists the 2027 Compass in Latitude, Latitude Altitude, Limited, Trailhawk and Limited Altitude trims, all as 4x4. When we checked on November 3, 2026, Jeep showed no MPG estimate for those 2027 trims and fueleconomy.gov had no 2027 Compass record.

We will update this page when EPA ratings for the 2027 Compass are published. Until then, the 2026 ratings above are the most recent official numbers.

What affects your real-world MPG

EPA ratings are meant for comparing vehicles; your mileage will vary with how and where you drive. A few things to keep in mind:

• Driving mix: the 2026 Compass is rated 31 mpg on the highway but 23 mpg in the city, so a mostly stop-and-go commute is likely to land closer to the city number.
• Engine stop-start: EPA lists engine stop-start on the 2025 and 2026 Compass, which shuts the engine off at some stops.

• Maintenance: use the correct oil and keep up with scheduled service.
