Ram 1500 Fuse Box Guide
The 2026 Ram 1500 Owner's Manual lists two Power Distribution Centers (PDCs): one under the hood near the battery and one under the driver's side instrument panel, plus an auxiliary PDC for the auxiliary switches if equipped. Here is where each one is, how to get the interior cover off, the manual's rules for replacing a fuse, and the cavity, rating and circuit for common fuses.

The short answer
On a 2026 Ram 1500, the main fuse box (the underhood Power Distribution Center) is in the engine compartment near the battery; the cavity number of each fuse is stamped on the inside of its cover. The interior Power Distribution Center is under the driver's side instrument panel: remove the two screws from the lower portion of the fuse panel cover, then gently pull both sides of the cover to release the clips. Replace a blown fuse only with one of the same amp rating, with the ignition off.
Where the Ram 1500 fuse boxes are
| Fuse box | Location | What it holds |
|---|---|---|
| Underhood Power Distribution Center | In the engine compartment near the battery. It is item 8 in the manual's 3.0L engine compartment views and item 9 in the 3.6L view; the 5.7L view also shows it. | Cartridge fuses, micro fuses, relays and circuit breakers. A description of each fuse may be stamped on the inside cover; otherwise the cavity number is stamped there. |
| Interior Power Distribution Center | Under the driver's side instrument panel. | Cartridge fuses, micro fuses, relays and circuit breakers. |
| Auxiliary Power Distribution Center (if equipped) | In the engine compartment toward the front of the vehicle, in front of the main PDC. Remove the upper shield to access it. | Fuses for the auxiliary switches. If equipped, additional auxiliary switch fuses are in the main PDC. |
From the 2026 Ram 1500 Owner's Manual (Engine Compartment, pages 310 to 313; Fuses: Underhood and Interior Power Distribution Center, pages 327 and 335; Auxiliary Switches, page 342), read November 1, 2026.
The manual cautions that when installing the power distribution center cover, it is important to make sure the cover is properly positioned and fully latched; otherwise water may get into the power distribution center and possibly cause an electrical system failure. If you wash the underhood compartment, take care not to hit the fuse box and the windshield wiper motors directly with water.
How to remove the interior fuse panel cover
The 2026 Ram 1500 Owner's Manual gives these steps for reaching the interior fuses:
- Locate and remove the two screws from the lower portion of the fuse panel cover.
- After removing the screws, gently pull both the left and right side of the fuse panel cover to release the fastener clips.
- Reverse the procedure to reinstall the fuse panel cover.
From the 2026 Ram 1500 Owner's Manual (Interior Power Distribution Center, page 335), read November 1, 2026.
Checking and replacing a Ram 1500 fuse
The manual says the fuses protect electrical systems against excessive current, and that when a device does not work, you must check the fuse element inside the blade fuse for a break or melt. Its rules for replacing one:
- Before replacing a fuse, make sure the ignition is off and all other services are switched off and/or disengaged.
- Always use a replacement fuse with the same amp rating as the original. Never replace a fuse with another fuse of a higher amp rating.
- Never replace a blown fuse with metal wires or any other material, and do not place a fuse inside a circuit breaker cavity or vice versa.
- If a properly rated fuse continues to blow, it indicates a problem in the circuit that must be corrected. If the replaced fuse blows again, contact an authorized dealer.
- If a general protection fuse for safety systems (air bag system, braking system), power unit systems (engine system, transmission system) or the steering system blows, contact an authorized dealer.
The manual also notes that using power outlets for extended periods of time with the engine off may result in vehicle battery discharge.

Auxiliary switch fuses (if equipped)
If your truck has auxiliary switches in the lower switch bank of the instrument panel, the manual says they manage relays that power four or six blunt cut wires under the hood to the right, near the battery, where a fused battery wire and an ignition wire are also found. Their switch type, power source and hold-last-state setting can be changed in Uconnect Settings. The fuses:
| Circuit | Fuse | Wire color | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aux Switch 1 | F001A, 50 Amp | Pink/Dark Blue | Underhood PDC |
| Aux Switch 2 | F002A, 20 Amp | Pink/Dark Green | Underhood PDC |
| Aux Switch 3 | F003A, 20 Amp | Pink/Violet | Underhood PDC |

Ram 1500 fuse box FAQ
Where is the fuse box on a Ram 1500?
The 2026 Ram 1500 manual lists two: the underhood Power Distribution Center in the engine compartment near the battery, and the interior Power Distribution Center under the driver's side instrument panel. Trucks with auxiliary switches also have an auxiliary PDC in front of the main underhood PDC.
How do I get to the interior fuses on a Ram 1500?
Remove the two screws from the lower portion of the fuse panel cover, then gently pull both the left and right side of the cover to release the fastener clips. Reverse the steps to reinstall it.
Where is the Ram 1500 fuse box diagram?
The 2026 manual says a description of each fuse may be stamped on the inside of the underhood PDC cover; otherwise the cavity number is stamped there and matches the chart in the owner's manual.
Which fuse is the horn on a 2026 Ram 1500?
The 2026 manual lists the horn on cavity F40 in the underhood Power Distribution Center, a 20 Amp Yellow micro fuse.
Can I use a higher amp fuse?
No. The 2026 manual says to always use a replacement fuse with the same amp rating as the original and never one with a higher amp rating, because that may result in a dangerous electrical system overload.
What does it mean if a Ram 1500 fuse keeps blowing?
The 2026 manual says a properly rated fuse that continues to blow indicates a problem in the circuit that must be corrected, and that if the replaced fuse blows again, you should contact an authorized dealer.
