2026 Jeep Compass Maintenance Schedule
The 2026 Jeep Compass Owner's Manual sets the Compass maintenance schedule in three layers: an oil change indicator that tells you when the next oil change is due, a short list of checks to do once a month, and a maintenance plan of items due at set mileages or years. Here is that schedule, laid out by mileage.

The short answer
Change the oil and filter when the Compass oil change indicator asks for it, and never beyond 10,000 miles, one year or 350 hours of engine run time, whichever comes first. At each oil change, the manual also calls for rotating the tires at the first sign of irregular wear and inspecting the battery, CV joints, brakes, cooling system and exhaust. Beyond that: replace the cabin air filter every 12,000 miles, the engine air filter every 30,000 miles, and the spark plugs at 60,000 and 120,000 miles; inspect the brake linings and front suspension every 20,000 miles; and flush and replace the engine coolant at 10 years or 150,000 miles.
Oil changes: follow the oil change indicator
The Compass has an automatic oil change indicator. The 2026 Jeep Compass Owner's Manual says operating conditions such as frequent short trips, trailer towing and extremely hot or cold temperatures influence when the "Change Oil" or "Oil Change Required" message appears, and that once it does, you should have the vehicle serviced as soon as possible, within the next 500 miles (805 km).
There is also a hard limit: under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km), one year or 350 hours of engine run time, whichever comes first. Once a month or before a long trip
The manual lists these owner checks:
Engine oil level
Check the engine oil level.
Lights
Check the operation of the interior and exterior lights.
12V battery
Check the battery terminals, cables and connections.
Brakes
Check the brake pads, rotors, brake operation and fluid level.
Steering and suspension
Check the steering, suspension, chassis components and axle boots.
Wipers and coolant
Check the wiper and washer operation, wiper blades and reservoir, and the coolant reservoir(s).

At every oil change
The maintenance plan lists these items at every oil change interval shown by the oil change indicator:
- Change the oil and filter.
- Rotate the tires at the first sign of irregular wear, even if it occurs before the oil change indicator turns on.
- Inspect the battery, and clean and tighten the terminals as required.
- Inspect the CV/universal joints.
- Inspect the brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums and hoses.
- Inspect the engine cooling system protection and hoses.
- Inspect the exhaust system.
- Inspect the engine air cleaner filter if you drive in dusty or off-road conditions, and replace it if necessary.
The manual also says to lubricate the door hinge roller pivot joints with white lithium grease twice a year to prevent premature wear.

The manual says to flush and replace the engine coolant at 10 years or 150,000 miles (240,000 km), whichever comes first, and that the spark plug interval is mileage based only (yearly intervals do not apply). Inspection items mean replace if necessary.
Severe conditions
The manual says more frequent maintenance may be needed in severe conditions, such as dusty areas and very short trip driving, and that in some extreme conditions additional maintenance not in the schedule may be required. Because short trips, trailer towing and temperature extremes influence when the oil change indicator comes on, an oil change can come due before the 10,000-mile limit.
The manual also warns that you can be badly injured working on or around a motor vehicle, and that failure to properly inspect and maintain your vehicle could result in a component malfunction. If you have any doubt about doing a service job yourself, the manual says to take your vehicle to a competent mechanic.
