Ram 1500 REV: Coming Soon to Elgin CDJR

The Ram 1500 REV is an electric pickup with a gas generator on board: a 92-kWh battery feeds the electric drive, and a 3.6L V6 runs a generator to recharge it on the go. Ram rates it at 647 hp, 690 miles of total range, 14,000 lb of towing and 2,625 lb of payload. It is the truck Ram first called the Ramcharger.

How does the Ram 1500 REV work?

It is a range-extended electric vehicle. Electric motors drive the wheels, fed by a 92-kWh liquid-cooled battery. When the battery runs down, a 3.6L Pentastar V6 turns a 130-kW generator to recharge it, so long trips and towing do not depend on finding a charger. At home it charges on a standard outlet or a Level 2 charger, and on the road it takes DC fast charging at up to 145 kW, which Ram says adds up to 50 miles of electric range in 10 minutes.

Ram 1500 REV FAQ

Is the Ram 1500 REV the same as the Ramcharger?

Yes. Ram renamed the range-extended Ramcharger as the 1500 REV in September 2025, when it cancelled the battery-only 1500 REV.

When will the Ram 1500 REV be available?

Ram's website lists projected availability as 2026, but Automotive News reported in September 2026 that production is planned for around April 2027. This page checks Elgin CDJR's new-vehicle inventory each time it loads and points to the inventory search once a 1500 REV is listed.

How far can the Ram 1500 REV go?

Ram rates it at 690 miles of total range, using battery power plus the V6 generator.

Does the Ram 1500 REV have to be plugged in?

No. The V6 generator can recharge the battery while driving, but plugging in at home or at a DC fast charger lets you drive on battery power more of the time.

How much can the Ram 1500 REV tow?

Up to 14,000 lb, with up to 2,625 lb of payload, according to Ram.
