Jeep Cherokee Fuse Box Guide
The 2026 Jeep Cherokee owner's manual lists two fuse panels: a Rear Power Distribution Center behind a trim cover on the rear driver's side quarter panel, and a Power Distribution Center under the hood. Here is where each one is, the manual's rules for replacing a fuse, and which fuses cover common items like the horn, wipers, power liftgate and heated seats.

The short answer
The 2026 Cherokee has a Rear Power Distribution Center behind a trim cover of the rear driver's side quarter panel, and a Power Distribution Center (PDC) in the underhood compartment. Both contain cartridge fuses, micro fuses, relays and circuit breakers. Before replacing a fuse, make sure the power button is off, and always use a fuse with the same amp rating as the original.
Where the Jeep Cherokee fuse boxes are
Rear Power Distribution Center
Behind a trim cover of the rear driver's side quarter panel. It contains cartridge fuses, micro fuses, relays and circuit breakers.
Underhood Power Distribution Center (PDC)
In the underhood compartment. It also contains cartridge fuses, micro fuses, relays and circuit breakers.
The underhood cover
A description of each fuse and component may be stamped on the inside cover; otherwise the cavity number of each fuse is stamped on the inside cover and matches the chart in the manual.
Close it properly
The manual cautions that the PDC cover must be properly positioned and fully latched. Otherwise water may get into the Power Distribution Center and possibly cause an electrical system failure.
From the 2026 Jeep Cherokee Owner's Manual (Rear Power Distribution Center, page 206; Underhood Fuses, page 215), read November 4, 2026.
How to check and replace a Cherokee fuse
The manual says fuses protect electrical systems against excessive current. When a device does not work, check the fuse element inside the blade fuse for a break or melt; the manual's illustration compares a good (functional) fuse element with a blown (not functional) one. Its rules for replacing one:
- Before replacing a fuse, make sure the power button is off and that all the other services are switched off and/or disengaged.
- Always use a replacement fuse with the same amp rating as the original. Never replace a fuse with another fuse of higher amp rating.
- Never replace a blown fuse with metal wires or any other material, and do not place a fuse inside a circuit breaker cavity or vice versa.
- If the replaced fuse blows again, contact an authorized dealer.
- If a general protection fuse for safety systems (air bag system, braking system), power unit systems (propulsion system, transmission system), the steering system or the Body Control Module (BCM) blows, contact an authorized dealer.
The manual warns that failure to use proper fuses may result in serious personal injury, fire and/or property damage. It also notes that using power outlets for extended periods of time with the vehicle off may result in vehicle battery discharge.
